Abba Kovner (1918-1987)
Abba Kovner was commander of the Vilna ghetto uprising and the FPO, the partisan
underground organization, a founder of the "Beriha" (escape) from Europe, a soldier in the
Israeli War of Independence, a member of Kibbutz Hachoresh, a poet and prose author, active in
Israel's cultural and public life.
